Review of Clone Wars episode, Hidden Enemy...

*WARNING: Major spoilers for "Hidden Enemy"*

Here's my review of the "Hidden Enemy" episode I did for theclonewars. As always if I've missed something or goofed something up, let me know. Comments are welcome and I'd love to hear what you thought about the episode!

The first part of the episode was a little confusing to me so I may not be as accurate or detailed as I’d like to be about it. Also, sometimes I have a hard time telling which Clone is which with their helmets on and the color of their armor markings not showing up too well. The episode is supposed to occur right before events in The Clone Wars movie which puts it out of synch with what we’ve been watching. Why the powers-that-be over this show decided to do that, I don’t know.

When it begins the announcer says there are Separatist forces on Christophsis and the Jedi had been called for help. Anakin and Obi-Wan and the Clones are watching the droid army advance and intend to ambush them. Obi-Wan is in the South Tower with troops and Anakin and Rex and troops are in the North Tower. Obi-Wan watches through his binoculars as Slick and some other clones enter the room. They notice the droids have brought tanks. The droids pull a fast one on them and split up. Almost immediately after, droids enter the room they’re in and everybody’s shooting and Obi-Wan’s swinging his lightsaber. He says to abort the mission and retreat.

Anakin comms to find out what’s going on and Obi-Wan says he and the others are cut off from escape. Anakin calls Hawk for help and the gunship and an E-Vac at the South Tower. Rex points out that they (meaning him and Anakin and clones) are in the North Tower. But Anakin doesn’t intend to be there long. He cuts a big X on the window and busts it out, then calls for cables. They’re fired across to the other building and he, Rex, and clones slide from one tower to the other amidst lots of laser fire. At least one clone doesn’t make it and falls to his death. Anakin leaps around like crazy until he ends up with Obi-Wan. There’s no Ahsoka by the way, remember BEFORE THE MOVIE. When Obi-Wan asks how he got there, Anakin replies that he improvised.

Anakin, Obi-Wan, and everybody else cram into an elevator and go up to the roof. For some unknown reason they do not sabotage the elevator so it soon spits out a bunch of droids, blasters firing away. The gunship arrives to rescue them. One Clone (Rex?) chops off the tactical droid’s head and takes it with him to figure out how the droids learned of their ambush plan.

Later the clones examine the droid head and listen to details about them being in the Towers and even what level they’d be on. R2-D2 watches. Anakin and Obi-Wan join the group with Anakin wondering how they could have left themselves open for attack. Obi-Wan doesn’t think that’s how it was calls spy. Cody is surprised and asks who’d want to betray them to the Seppies.

Obi-Wan decides he and Anakin go behind enemy lines to investigate, leaving Rex and Cody in charge of figuring out who might have been spying and giving away secrets. He tells them it’s confidential and no one’s to know of their mission. After the Jedi leave, Cody notices a comlink that’s been left on. He tells Rex someone has been listening to everything that was said. Rex looks out into the hallway and sees a figure slipping away but it’s too shadowy to tell who it is. He yells for the figure to stop and he and Cody takes off after him. They split up and take separate corridors and meet up again in front of the mess hall. They enter the mess hall where several clones are sitting around the room eating. Rex points out that they have a problem since there are only brothers in the mess hall. They decide to keep their suspicions to themselves and contact Obi-Wan and Anakin.

Meanwhile, Anakin and Obi-Wan are zooming along through the city on their BARC speeders. They’re being watched by droids which seems to indicate they’re expected.

Cody tells Rex he’s unable to contact the Jedi, someone’s jamming their communications. Rex calls R2 over and tells him to plug in to find out who’s been getting messages through to the Separatists.

Anakin and Obi-Wan are still being watched by the droids. Anakin notices and says they’ve picked up some friends and maybe their adversary has learned of their mission. They want them to make it to the Separatist headquarters so they must be planning a trap. (I thought these parts were a little lame, I think a better scenario could have been thought up besides “going behind enemy lines to investigate”)

R2 finds a weak frequency that had gone unnoticed before and that could have been used to communicate with the Separatists. They discover the signal is coming from Sergeant Slick’s barracks and only his men would have access to that terminal. Rex comments that Slick’s not going to like that and Cody agrees but says if one of those men is giving away their intel then they have to find him.

Anakin and Obi-Wan arrive at the Separatist headquarters where it’s much too quiet and deserted looking. So what do they do? They casually walk in.

Rex and Cody inform Sergeant Slick about their discovery. Naturally upset, Slick says it can’t be one of his men. The men walk up since Rex and Cody had already called them in. A determined Rex says they have to get to the bottom of it. Slick wants to talk to his men alone first, saying it will hit them hard since they trust each other, but Cody nixes that idea, tells the men to sit and informs them that there is a turncoat and he thinks it’s one of them.

As soon as they get inside Separatist headquarters, Anakin and Obi-Wan run into a cloaked and hooded Asajj Ventress. Obi-Wan comments, “And here I thought this mission would be unpleasant.” Ventress replies, “The pleasure’s all mine, my dear Obi-Wan. I’ve missed you.” (I know they’ve semi-flirted before but they talk like two people with a relationship-type history.) Ventress doesn’t even address Anakin. She removes her cloak while Obi-Wan watches her thoughtfully. (Oh yeah, he’s definitely interested.)

Rex and Cody question Slick’s men. The first one Rex quizzes is Jester (hair, a funny spot of beard on his chin and spotted sideburns) who is VERY nervous and twitchy, practically wring his hands. He says he did what he always did after a mission, he cleaned his gun. One of the others comments that it’s what Jester always does. Cody asks did he go on the computer and Jester says no, he didn’t even power it up. Cody looks at his weapon and it proves to be clean. Then he questions Punch (also dark smooth hair and beard just on his chin kind of in a triangle shape) who says he was hungry and went to the mess hall. Sketch (smooth hair and longer skinny sideburns) went with him and there were others in the mess hall who could confirm that. Gus (bald with little squares of beard on his jawline) says he was in the infirmary where a med droid was fixing his wounded arm. Cody looks at his bandaged arm. Rex asks Chopper (one of the bald ones) what his alibi is and he looks major guilty. He claims he was in the mess hall too but one of the others (maybe Sketch?) jumps up and says no, Chopper came in much later than they did. Slick looks worried and Chopper looks scared.

Back at Separatist HQ, Ventress ignites her two red lightsabers and Anakin and Obi-wan turn theirs on too. She turns and leaps up a staircase, turning back to face the two Jedi. Ventress gets a dig in when she says her loyal informant let her know they were coming. Obi-Wan thanks her for her hospitality but Anakin leaps up the stairs to engage her in a fight.

Rex and Cody continue to question Chopper about his whereabouts and he’s very evasive. He finally admits he was hiding at the south exit so no one would see him stringing together battle droid fingers. (ewww…I know they’re metal but I kept thinking of fat sausage human fingers, guess I watch too many horror movies) which is apparently greatly frowned upon. Chopper says he wanted something back, he felt the droids owed him something. Gus makes the ugly comment that he always knew there was something deficient about Chopper. Slick tells Chopper it isn’t good, lying and taking forbidden items from a battlefield. (I don’t get this, if it was humans or other living beings who’d been killed on the battlefield then I’d understand why it was so “forbidden” to collect parts.) Slick crosses his arms over his chest and it’s obvious he doesn’t care for/like Chopper as much as the other guys, says he put up with Chopper’s attitude because he had skill but if he’d break the rules then his character was in question. Chopper hops up and claims he was no spy.

Anakin and Obi-wan fight back and forth with Ventress but never quite get the upper hand. Hmmm, the two best Jedi together can’t best her. She makes a few things fly at Obi-Wan and he cleaves them in half with his lightsaber.

Slick says they’re all brothers but how can he trust anything Chopper says now. Slick puts his hand on his shoulder and says he’d get a proper investigation and he doesn’t have to say anything until the Jedi come back. Chopper roughly shrugs Slick’s hand off his shoulder and says maybe Slick should tell them where HE went. Chopper says he was at the south exit and he saw Slick. Everyone else went towards the barracks but Slick went towards the command center. Slick looks around at the others and says obviously “the kid” feels cornered. But Cody asks what did Slick mean about when the Jedi come back (ooops, Slick wasn’t suppose to know they went on their little mission.) Everyone looks REAL interested in hearing what Slick has to say about that. Slick says he wishes Cody hadn’t noticed that, punches him, sends another clone flying, and runs out the door.

Ventress still plays with Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Rex and Cody go looking for Slick. They notice someone’s out by the gunships and take off in that direction as the gunships begin exploding. Rex and Cody escape harm. Then the weapons depot is taken out. Rex says Slick’s not trying to escape, he knows all their moves before they make them.

“Give up, Ventress.” Says Obi-Wan. (Now why would she do that?) “I’m all yours, Obi-Wan,” she replies. (This talk sent a gazillion plot bunnies scampering around my head.) Ventress is sitting calmly on the floor. Anakin and Obi-Wan, not being at their brightest during this episode, walk towards her. She ignites her sabers under the floor and the ground cuts away beneath them and they fall down. And they didn’t fall like the graceful little Jedi they are suppose to be. No, they went splat very hard on their backs on a lower floor. Ventress looks down at them and says they’ve served their purpose. Anakin has finally caught on (lightbulb!) that she just lured them away so something bad can take place back at the command post (center? base?). Obi-Wan says it’s already too late and that it’s hard to know whom to trust these days. (uhhh, I can suggest one person you shouldn’t trust Obi-Wan, no matter how taken you are with her bald beauty.) He says, “Bringing us here was a mistake, my sweet,” and Anakin looks at him like gag. Obi-Wan then tells her she’s overestimated her abilities. (Uh huh, that’s why they had to team up against her.) Ventress takes off running and busts through a window, Anakin and Obi-Wan right behind her, only to discover the droid army in wait. “Come and get me, boys!” she says. (Hey, she noticed Anakin was there!) “You didn’t tell me you were bringing friends,” says Obi-Wan. “Poor Obi-Wan, you’ve been betrayed,” she says and she has these weird wrinkles between her eyes instead of across her forehead where they should be. Ventress says she will take control of the world, meaning Christophsis.

Rex and Cody watch the gunships burn. (Wouldn’t it be a good idea to put them out?) One of the clones comes up and says Slick was seen going back into the command center. They tell him to stay there and seal off the perimeter and they take off to the command center.

Anakin leaps down and chops at some kind of support to the big round thing Ventress is standing on. Obi-Wan tags along. Then they’re all three fighting as the thing falls. Anakin and Obi-Wan snag two of the droids’ STAPs and fly away. Ventress tells the others to prepare to take over the city. She tells a tactical droid to have General Loathesome to delay the Jedi as long as possible so she can execute her master’s plan.

Rex and Cody go inside the command center with guns drawn to search for Slick. Slick’s hiding behind the vent in the ceiling watching them. Rex and Cody realize quickly where he’s at and have a big fake conversation so they can lure him out after Cody leaves a gun out in plain sight. Slick slips out and gets it and comes up behind Cody who smugly tells him the gun’s empty. Rex points his own gun at him. Slick hollers that he’s not the traitor, they all are. He gets free, knocking away their guns but they tackle him. CLONE FIGHT! Slick rattles on saying they all blindly follow orders but at least he got something out of all the suffering. He manages to get on top of Cody, hitting away at him, but Rex comes up behind him and pins his arms. Rex says Slick sold out his brothers for some shiny coin. They butt heads and wrestle around some more. Slick grabs Rex’s leg and twists and we hear a big crunch. Slick says yes, Ventress offered him money but also offered him something more important – freedom. Cody knocks him out. They handcuff him and Rex says his freedom will have to wait. Anakin and Obi-Wan enter the room and Obi-Wan is surprised that the traitor was Slick.

Later Anakin says to Slick how he couldn’t be more of a disappointment and how could he do that to his brothers. (now that was creepy for Anakin to be asking that question) and Slick answers that only a Jedi would ask that and Jedi keep the clones enslaved, doing their bidding, and serving at their whim. Slick says he wanted something more than that. (I kept expecting Anakin to pipe up with something else, after all he was a slave during his early years, but he didn’t.) Rex tells Slick he put them all at risk but Slick says he loves his brothers, they’re just too blind to see it. He was striking a blow for all clones. (By causing some of them to get killed? What did he think would happen when the Separatists came after them and they had no gunships or weapons? Heelllooo…clone deaths.) Cody says if he loved his brothers he wouldn’t have put them at risk. Slick’s taken to lockup. Obi-Wan asks if any of their weapons were salvaged from the weapons depot. Rex says Slick scorched everything, seemed to be what he meant to do all along. Cody says they did save the heavy cannons. Obi-Wan says that’s good because there were about 1000 battle droids on their way there.

And there it all ended kind of abruptly and don’t look for a continuation next week. This story took place right before the Clone Wars movie. I don’t know why they just stuck it in the middle of the other episodes. They could have at least given a warning that it was out of line or called it a flashback or SOMETHING.

My review for The Clone Wars episode "Trespass"...

*SPOILERS!!!* This is a review of the last episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, "Trespass." I don't often write reviews but wanted to with this episode. You'll have to overlook any spelling errors, sometimes names are hard to catch and I'm horrible at remembering names for different ships and other equipment. But if you haven't seen the episode and don't want to know what it's about then...DON'T LOOK!

First of all, I was very excited about this episode because Obi-Wan and Anakin are back together and because it reminded me of The Empire Strikes Back, I still remember sitting mesmerized watching the scenes on Hoth when I was a kid. There was Captain Rex and other clonetroopers but no Ahsoka, Padme, or other Jedi. C-3PO and R2-D2 came along for the ride.

It began with them arriving on the ice planet Orto <strike>Plutonium</strike> Plutonia. The Jedi, the clones, and the people from Pantora, a nearby moon. There's the beautiful little blue-skinned dewey-eyed Senator Riyo Chuchi. But if you're thinking she's like Senator Amidala, you would be incorrect. She's very soft-spoken, almost timid. The bully is Chairman Chi Cho, a hatchet-faced a****** if there ever was one. He wants the planet. There doesn't seem to be a specific reason beyond the fact that he just wants it and thinks he should get everything he wants.

Their ships arrive at what was a Republic base. Obi-Wan and Anakin are decked out in matching snow suits and gear and accompanied by Rex, the clones, and the droids. Another ship spits out the group from Pantora including the delicate little Senator and the pain in the ass Chairman. There are guards with them but they don't have much to say in the show. Apparently Orto Plutonia is uninhabited so Pantora claims it and had previously asked for the Republic outpost to be put there though I missed it if anybody said why.

There's some political chitchat with the Chairman telling the Senator what to. Obi-Wan and Anakin don't seem too impressed with him but don't argue about it either and I would have thought Anakin would have been more vocal about it and more protective of the Senator. But he just chilled in his ruffled hood. Anakin's left to guard the Senator and the others go into the outpost. The first sight they see are clone helmets stuck on top of pikes, not a very good sign. The Chairman starts ranting about Separatists taking over. They keep looking and find a bunch of dead clones in another room. Obi-Wan disagrees with Cho's Separatist ideas though because he said the killers didn't bother the computers.

The clone scouts tell Rex they've spotted a droid base. Then they're off on the snow speeder bikes which was highly entertaining to watch with all the scenery zipping by. When they get to the other base, there're droid heads mounted on pikes. Anakin and Rex putter around outside with some kind of sensors and Anakin finds a huge <strike>sasquatch</strike> unknown footprint and Obi-Wan tells him to make a cast of it. Hee. Inside Obi-Wan and the others had found more droids minus their heads. Obi-Wan finds a holo of a droid fighting an unnown creature.

They go back to the other station and Cho wants it back up and running to protect them from the Separatists. Even though they've found no evidence of them being the ones that did all the killing. Cho is such an idiot. The Senator doesn't agree, she can see there's no evidence of Separatist involvement, rather it must be someone native to the planet and therefore they can be peacefully negotiated with, but she still won't stand up to Cho even though he criticizes everything she says. Why she didn't pick up one of those pikes and club him across the side of his head I'll never understand...oh yeah, peaceful, be peaceful, even though Cho looks like the type to shoot first and ask questions later.

Obi-Wan and Anakin make their way to a canyon, noticing they were being watched. They keep going to a village where these big hairy creatures with the pikes (spears?) live. They are Talz and ride narglatches which look like big cats on super steroids with too many teeth. The Jedi aren't attacked and they meet with the chief. They go into a hut and draw stone pictures trying to communicate. Anakin draws a picture showing peace between them (somebody needs to keep that...primitive drawing by a younger Darth Vader) and Obi-Wan gets a big bear hug when they get ready to leave.

But all is not right with the world. Cho doesn't want to hear about peace, he wants to kill the "trespassers" on his newly acquired planet. Obi-Wan calmly explains that the Talz are native to the planet and just want to be left alone, the droids harassed them and the clones just happened to get caught in the middle. Senator Chuchi says if the Talz were already there then the Senate would have to decide. Cho is still on his "kill the savages" loop. Obi-Wan says he'd agreed to a peaceful meeting between the Talz and the Pantorans. But wonderful Chairman Cho wants the clones along for protection. They go on the snow speeder bikes and all meet at the Separatist base. Cho keeps being an ass, ordering the clones around. You know, Rex had his helmet on the entire time but I could swear I could read his mind and he was thinking "Let's knock him in the head and bury him in the snow, nobody'll ever miss him."

Anyway, they all meet, C-3PO translates for the Talz chief who just wants peace and to be left alone. But Cho does his usual insulting best and everybody ends up fighting. Cho tries to order Rex around but Rex says they're there to protect him and not fight but unfortunately they all end up fighting. Rex gets unhorsed and Cho gets stabbed in the back. Darn. Rex, being much more loyal than I would have been, slings Cho across his bike and takes off. I thought maybe the Chairman would fly off when they hit a sharp turn but no such luck.

Back at the station, the Senator has called home and whoever she talked to agreed Cho was out of line and give her the go ahead to negotiate peacefully with the Talz. The wishy-washy Senator thinks she'll get Obi-Wan to negotiate for her but he politely declines.

The clones have been trapped but Obi-Wan and the others arrive in the gunships. Senator Chuchi tries to talk to Cho but even dying he's unreasonable and wants her to avenge his death. Uhhh...no. She takes his hat (kind of looks like one of those flat-topped biker hats) and a spear/pike and marches over to the Talz chieftan and places the hat on top of the spear after sticking it in the ground. The Chief sticks his in the snow. Peace! Chuchi says they'll leave Orto Plutonia to the Talz. Then everybody goes their own merry way.

Overall, a pretty good episode. The only thing that bugged me was that Anakin acted like he was in la-la land half the time. He was so calm, it just wasn't natural. Even when Obbi-Wan told him to shut up he didn't argue back. Maybe he was daydreaming of Padme. <strike>Or distracted by Obi-Wan in his snow suit.</strike> But hey, did you hear his "most impressive" comment? It took me a minute to remember that was a Vader line. Hee. I'm extremely glad Chairman Cho will never be back. Senator Chuchi needs to spend some time with Padme and learn a bit about aggresive negotiations.

Comments and agreements and disagreements welcome!

Also posted to theclonewars.

Writer's Block: Regime Change

Today marks the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. Obama's campaign was built around a message of change. What changes would you most like to see in the next 4 years?

View 500 Answers

I'd like to see the economy on more steady ground, of course. But I'm also hoping that people will learn to stand together and stop separating from each other because of their race or beliefs.

Writer's Block: Tricky Questions

What is your first reaction when someone says "I need to talk to you"?

View 503 Answers

My first reaction is that it's going to be bad in some way, shape, or form. People are more likely to seek you out to give you bad information or to ask you to do something you probably won't want to do.That's kind of sad but that's how it often is.

To be honest I really don't want to do anything but it seems a waste of good free time...

Well, the LSU Tigers lost to Alabama, though not by a lot. I haven't really been keeping up lately but I did remember to look for the game on TV today but I couldn't find it anywhere. It was probably on that expanded sports package I don't subscribe to.

I should be watching the Golden Globe's. I did briefly to catch a nice glimpse of Robert Downey, Jr. but he looked as gloomy as I feel. Carrie was on another channel but nobody would watch it with me. I looked at my library books but they didn't appeal too much right now. Maybe I should just go to sleep and hope my new attitude for this year kicks in soon.:)

I will forever be a Star Wars fan girl...you know it's true if I watch the anime version...

Is that what it's called...anime? I'm not very knowledgeable about it. At first, when I watched the film, it was strange, but I eventually got used to it. Hey, as long as it's Star Wars, it's good.:)

Yay, Plo Koon! I can't tell what's you and what's your mask/breather but I like you.:) Ahsoka needs toning down, I expected her to break into a valley girl impression any minute. Anakin, I do so still love you dispite your Who nose. Obi-Wan, the Jedi with the chiseled beard. Palpatine is squicky though. Ewwwww...old man nasty.

There was a preview of that new Ember movie playing. I suppose it's a kid movie but I thought it looked interesting. But what the hell is Bill Murray doing on it? He looks out of place.

No work tomorrow! I'm so relieved I could scream. I am still tired, my mind more than my body, and I would be pleased as punch if tomorrow was a long, calm day at home.

Ummm...did I ever say I bought Order 66? Sure did. Scraped the money up out of the bottom of my purse but I bought it.

Here lie spoilers for SCC and Heroes...cover your eyes if you object!

Sarah Connor Chronicles continued wonderfully...well, except for Sarah stuck with babysitting duties again. Not that it isn't somewhat interesting to see her in a different light but enough's enough. Loved the flashback scenes. Poor John is so trapped though. I know he's taken a lot of bashing recently for his lousy attitude...but...he's a teenager and they're often moody and unlikeable...and, most importantly of all...this kid's trapped with a future he doesn't want. His life's already planned for him and that must be an awful feeling.

Heroes was slightly confusing. But then I was more than slightly sleepy and could possibly have missed a few minor details. Does anybody ship Sylar/Claire? Or am I the only twisted one?

I'm still in love with Supernatural!

Okay, my mind is still spinning from watching Supernatural last night. And I was just expecting it to be a sappy going back in time and seeing how dorky the parents used to be kind of show. Uhhhhh...no. That's wasn't exactly how it was. It was mind blowingly wonderful:]

First of all, we were back to seeing Dean sleeping (isn't he sweet, if I'd been there I would have just sat and stared at him for hours) and Sam sneaking out to meet new!Ruby to get into some demon-killing mischief. That's the last we see of Sam for the whole episode. And uh...Sam still looks funny. He looks like he's been lifting weights with his forehead or something, he doesn't look like Sammy no more. Somebody needs to do something.

Castiel is vaguely creepy don't you think? And he never comes straight out with an answer about anything.

Dean waking up on the bench put me in mind of Back to the Future but I suppose that's what was intended. I loved that movie anyway.:) But Dean didn't really stand out as different did he? Except for the cell phone he just blended right in.

The scene in the diner/cafe was also a nod to the movie as was that guy calling Winchester and both Dean and John looking around. John was appealing with an innocence that we'd never seen from him. Poor Dean was kind of shocked.

The car thing had me rolling. John looking at the ridiculous VW bus (at least I think that was what it was) and then Dean firmly guiding him to the Impala.

The look on Dean's face when he saw Mary...a mixture of pain and awe that this was his mom. But then when she kicked his ass and he discovered she was a hunter...that was my favorite part of the show. I expected there to be a connection between her and the YED but I never expected Mary herself to have originally been a hunter even before she met the YED. I thought she was from a wealthy family who looked down their noses at mechanic John. I never dreamed they didn't want to accept him because they were the close-knit hunter family and he was the civilian. Thumbs up to Kripke, you made my day with this little plot twist.:)

And what was Dean driving...I remember this kind of car, my uncle had one when I was little, but I can't come up with the name.

I liked Samuel and Deanna. Samuel had some of Sam's mannerisms and I wonder if that was done on purpose. The look on Samuel's face when he gets to the farmhouse in his priest suit and there's Dean already there in an identical suit was priceless and the look on his face when Dean got his little jab in about senior priest was pure Sammy.:)

The look on Dean's face when Mary confessed her dreams for the future...no hunting, a "normal" life, her kids not growing up hunting...was heartbreaking. He made her promise not to get up that night (the night in the future when she dies). I wondered at the time if she had forgotten his warning.

Samuel being possessed by the YED was horrible. It was just so wrong. And after all that's happened to Dean, he had to sit there helpless and watch his grandmother die. The YED sniffing at Dean was also creepy and the thought of him dripping his nasty demon blood in Sam's mouth and the other children is just gross.

Well, we certainly learned a lot about Mary in this episode. She had backbone and she had to make some hard choices. John's dying and being brought back surprised me, but then that's how the YED got his hooks into Mary. The "kiss" between Mary and the YED possessing her grandfather's body was beyond ickiness. And Dean knew what she'd done without asking. After all, he did something similar. Now we know why Mary got up that night, even after Dean's warning, or perhaps she truly had forgotten and grown complacent over the span of ten years.

Castiel's warning about Sam was chilling. And clear. Stop Sam or we will.

Why did it say to be continued? Next week's preview doesn't look like a continuation of this episode...

Last night's episode of Fringe and my review...SPOILERS

Fringe has turned out to be one of my favorite new shows. Here's the review I posted at fringe_tvseries:

Last night's show was called The Arrival and its description at Wikipedia said: "The team investigates a strange cylinder, found in a deadly explosion at a construction site in New York City. The cylinder was in the middle of the explosion and was completely unharmed. Olivia uncovers a correlation between different disturbing events."

This probably will not be in order of how it happened on the show...

The Observer, the bald man with no eyebrows, was a nice addition to last night's episode. When we first saw him, he was at a diner and ordered a half raw sandwich and hot peppers and then proceeded to add more hot stuff to it before eating. The waitress tried to make conversation but he simply stared a lot. When I first saw him I thought of course that he was some new villain and would harm the poor overfriendly waitress but then as the show progressed it became obvious that he was something else.

Anyway, The Observer (we learn later in the show that this is what Broyles calls him) is watching a construction site near the diner. There's an explosion but we really can't tell much about what's going on. The Observer seems pleased, pays for his meal and leaves.

It turns out that the explosion was because of the cylinder emerging from the ground. It's shown to Walter and the rest of the gang. Walter seems odd about it but then he's odd about everything. He proceeds to test it with Astrid nearby.

Peter lets Olivia know that he's tired of staying around and is not getting along with Walter (we saw earlier that Walter's still not sleeping at night and keeping Peter up with his talking and general craziness). Olivia tells him that Walter's already said he would not help them anymore if Peter left, he'd go back to the institution. Peter is frustrated but agrees to stay on for a little while longer.

Olivia figures out from photos that The Observer was at two of the sites of odd happenings and takes this to Broyles. He takes her in a room where there are pictures of the bald man all over the wall and said he's been spotted at dozens of incidences that are linked by the Pattern.

We see another guy with a sock cap creeping around, he is definitely a bad guy and shoots people with a strange gun that seems to use something else besides bullets. He tortures somebody (who was it, it's gone from my sleep-deprived brain) by strapping them to a table and sticking wires up the nose. He questions as these wires somehow cause great pain for the victim. The guy, who's wearing headphones, gets his answer without the victim telling, so I guess he reads their mind or it's transmitted to him in some way.

The sock cap guy is after the cylinder's location. Walter, who's been very protective of the cylinder, knows someone's after it. He injects poor Astrid with something in the lab and disappears with the cylinder.

Eventually Walter's found and taken into police custody, he did after all steal a federal piece of property. Peter and Olivia talk with him but he's erratic and seems almost angry. Eventually he loses his temper completely with Peter and says hurtful things, including an ugly reference to Peter's mother. Peter leaves, telling Olivia that he's had enough. Then Walter says something about he guessed he upset Peter. Olivia just looks at him and then turns and leaves.

The headphones guy gets Peter and tortures him. Peter doesn't know where Walter took the cylinder but the man says that because Walter knows then Peter will know. Poor Peter, he had blood running out of his nose from those wires. It's always unsettling when the good guy's made completely helpless.

Later they realize Peter is missing and Olivia tells Walter. Olivia goes after Peter. The headphones guy had unstrapped him and taken him to where the cylinder is hidden. Olivia ends up there, Peter escapes, and Olivia chases headphone man. The Observer is there too. Headphone man is shot.

Peter questions The Observer who starts repeating Peter's words the same time he says them, and then starts saying what Peter's thinking. Peter's understandably unnerved about this but then The Observer shoots him with something similar to what the headphones guy had, but it stuns Peter and knocks him out.

Later Walter and Peter are talking and Walter tells the story of a car accident they had when Peter was a boy. Peter believed Walter rescued him when the car ended up on the frozen river (lake?) but Walter said the water was too cold and he and Peter would both have drowned if the bald man hadn't shown up and pulled them out of the icy water onto the shore. Walter said he knew he would be called upon to help the bald man one day.

I know I've probably forgotten several things in this, if they come to me later I'll add them, or feel free to remind me.

I was kind of unsettled by Walter's anger. Though extremely erratic, I hadn't before seen him as a violent person. I wonder if we'll be shown Astrid's reaction to what Walter did to her. The Observer guy was a nice addition to the mystery. Peter's very frustrated and I wish the writers would hurry up and let us in on a bit more of his past. Did I see sparks between Olivia and Broyles?

Next week's preview looked very interesting and there was good old John, maybe real or maybe just a figment of Olivia's imagination.

What are your thoughts on last night's episode?

Monday is apparently TV night cause that's where I've been...glued to the TV

You know when you just hate to go to bed because you know that morning and work will come much too quickly? Well, tonight is one of those times. All day I kept thinking of things I was going to do this evening and tonight. Especially since my other half is working out of town again for a few days. But I've done nothing but lie on the couch and watch TV. So far I've seen The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, and Life, missing Prison Break and CSI: Miami, but I think I can pick those up on another channel if I can stay awake.:)

The Sarah Connor Chronicles has me so confused. Now don't get me wrong, it was a wonderful show but I'm not sure I understand everything that's going on...

Two Camerons...well, actually one was an Allison...one human and one not. Excellent flashbacks (uhhhh...flashforwards...?) of the girl Allison after she was captured. I'll admit to great confusion at first and I kept thinking somehow that Cameron had once been a real person and got made over a la General Grievous but gradually I caught on that the Cameron we know must have been modeled after her. And of course now the big question is, is Cameron still programmed to eventually do away with John as it appears she was once programmed to infiltrate his resistance movement and possibly kill him.

John was his usual gloomy self. A boy that handsome shouldn't look like that all the time. A genuine smile now and again wouldn't hurt, after all, people follow him in the future, he has to have more charisma than he's shown so far.

And Cameron kept the necklace, wonder what the significance of that is.

Sarah was conveniently occupied with her friend. I'm surprised she left John and Cameron alone for the amount of time she did.

And no Charley and I didn't mind that.

Heroes is new for me, I've heard praises about it for a while and finally watched part of the show last week and of course now I'm curious. I'm still learning names and trying to figure out who the "good guys" and the "bad guys" are.

OK. I don't understand exactly who this Petrelli woman is and what she's up to. But I distinctly get the idea she's not a good person. Her mannerisms really tweaked my ick button. And the guy Sylar/Gabriel has me confused too...he's not a very good guy I don't think but I can't quite grasp what has happened to him because he's supposedly different now. And Noah is...who? The father of Claire I think but is he her real father or adopted father?

Hiro and Ando are a hoot. Can't wait to see more of them.:)

The guys with the bank heist...confusing. I get that one is not who he appears to be but I can't figure out how he got that was. Was that the Petrelli woman's doing?

The storyline involving Tracy is still beyond my comprehension besides getting the fact that she looks like someone else.

The guy with the sunburned face stumbling after the guy in Africa, I can't remember his name. And why is he following this other guy around and how did he get there and does he have any special powers too?

There was A LOT of Claire. She can't be hurt and feels no pain. Confusing. Does she feel good things then? I'm curious about what horrible things happened to her. Was that Sylar's doing? She wasn't raised by her mother, what about her father? Meredith has her fire powers and is currently protecting Claire's family, but what exactly does Meredith do when she's not doing that?

And I didn't realize how much I had missed Charlie Crews until I watched Life. I don't know what to think about the new boss man on the show but sparks are flying between him and Reece.

Maybe I can convince my ancient VCR to record Prison Break for me cause I sure could go to sleep...

Tired tonight...

I am tired. I have a friend in the hospital getting all kinds of tests run on her kidneys and went to sit with her for a couple of hours. She was kind of groggy at first but perked up a bit after they finally brought her something to eat. I didn't realize before how pale and thin she's been getting but maybe the doctors will figure out how to help her.

What's on tonight? Don't know. hey, I found a new show I like, Flashpoint. I think it was on CBS. Don't know any of the actors but they're really great. Looked around and found a community, flashpoint_fans and joined.

And I saw Dark Knight! Very good, and I liked Christian Bale's "Bruce" better in this one than the previous. Just something about the look in his eyes. I also liked the new girl, can't pull her name up right now. And of course now I'm seeing why everyone's saying Heath Ledger should get an Oscar. The only thing I didn't like was the inaccuracy of Harvey Dent's injury...a person with burns like that is not going to be up and running around and that's not how it would look and there would be lots of swelling and seepage...and I'm probably grossing somebody out.

A jumble of thoughts...

Hello, hello. I need to wake up but I'm groggy this morning. I made pancakes! Haven't eaten them yet but I'll get around to it. No work for me today, I just wish I didn't still feel like crap. Some summer virus thing and my stomach still feels alarmingly weak.

I've already watched I am Legend on PPV and now they come back with an alternate ending? That really sucks. Maybe I can find it someplace on the Internet and watch it. I'm thinking the ending has to be better cause the original was kind of depressing.

Did I say I saw The Incredible Hulk? I did and it was AWESOME. And to think I'd been reluctant to see it.

I was watching about the volcano erupting in Hawaii...it's here:
Mount Kilauea Erupts. Fascinating sight. My mind just boggles at the idea that this was how Hawaii was formed over many, many years.

It rained yesterday evening, hopefully enough that I won't have to water anything. The soil is very dry because we had a drier winter and if I don't keep my bushes and shrubs watered they won't flower prettily next spring. I just can't be one of those people who have NOTHING in their yard except manicured grass. A friend of mine has that. I think she may have one tree in the front and maybe a small one on the side of the house but she didn't even plant them, her father-in-law did. Her husband mows every Saturday and it's a perfect expanse of green. She says it pleases her that she doesn't have to mess with anything outside and that she has no desire to grow anything. For me it's the complete opposite and when I try to explain the feeling I get when I'm planting and digging and watching things grow, she just looks at me like I've got three heads.

An unexpectedly nice Monday...

Well, I must say that today was definitely a better day than some recently. Everyone at work was relaxed as was everyone at home. You know that goes a LONG way in making anything better. No more major shakeups at work either...but keep your fingers crossed that that will continue.

We're going to watch a late softball game in a little bit, it's still warm out and so far the mosquitoes haven't sprouted yet. And no, I'm not playing, I'm watching a family member.

We went to see The Ruins last night. Usually stuff doesn't bother me too bad but there were some parts in this that had me hiding my eyes...not scared but grossed out of my mind. I won't spoil the movie for those of you who didn't see it yet because even with the gross stuff it was a good film if you like horror movies and that's what I consider it to be. I had actually gone to see Shutter but it wasn't playing anymore, don't know why the theater only showed it for a week.

Reading...I haven't done much the past few days though I've a stack a mile hile sitting by my chair.

Long, lonely Saturday...

I'm watching Battlestar Galactica, I always seem to miss it on TV, wrong time for me or else too nervous to sit and watch something anymore. But I'd almost forgotten how much I really like this show. The sound's not really cooperating though, I think my computer needs an overhaul.

It's a dreary and lonely feeling day, cold and I'd wanted to be outside. Emma's getting ready to have her kittens, poor thing was almost as big around as a basketball. I don't know what I'll do with them all. One lady at work wants a calico one but it's not likely she'll have one.

I've got a crockpot full of chilli simmering, I put it on this morning, that way everyone can eat when they want and I don't have to cook anymore today, I can just sit and contemplate how weird my life has ended up. Maybe I need a big dose of vitamins or something to get me out of the blahs.
